A refreshingly optimistic article on illegal aliens for a change by the Dallas Morning News on how Immigration Officials are actually working hard to deport illegal aliens: the ones who take "order to depart" about as seriously as obtaining drivers licenses or automobile insurance.
One infuriating fact glossed over in this article is this statement: "Detention and removal operations took more than 40 percent of ICE's $4.7 billion budget last fiscal year."
ICE's budget is ONLY $4.7 billion? Yet how many HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of dollars are we wasting, not only in Iraq, but in politically self-serving pork barrel projects across the nation? No wonder ICE keeps saying they can't keep up with the illegal tide over-running our shores! ICE's budget should be 10 to 20 times higher than it is. It's time to get our priorities straight.
There are other interesting tib-bits of information such as the staffing size of ICE and efforts by the American Bar Association and others to interfer with the deportation process. I'm not going to restate them: you can either click HERE or click the title of this post to be taken to the complete article. It's eye-opening reading and Kudos to the Dallas Morning News for reporting this story without bias.
