That's pretty good news I suppose, though I know you've been known to feel at times, less than enthusiastic about SM as a company...but I'd say it's a step in the right direction, now only if I could get these Seattle/Tacoma area retailers to stop looking at me like I'm retarded and asking "Swedish What-Now?"

Hi Aaron!

I get a lot of questions about where to try Swedish snus over the counter in general, but in Texas in particular.

They are going to be in the FAQ's on the new websites: Texas and the other States SM is available at.

It really is good news. Now that the "American Flavor" has been out for a while, peoples taste buds are being ruined and by the time they try any Swedish Snus, for some it's too late.

I even ask myself: the first snus I tried was Camel original. If I had done it long enough, the nicotine would brain-wash me into liking it.

When I discovered Swedish Snus on the Internet as a brand new snus user, would I have understood enough to order 1 or 2 cans plus shipping over the Internet?

Fortunately, I didn't have to because a Swedish Match snus dealer was 5 minutes from my house.

That first General Portion demonstrated so blew away the Camel SNUS that I threw the Camel can away, and except for the painful taste-test of American snus I put myself through (I have 3 different flavors of Skoal Snus I just don't have the courage to open), I've used nothing but Swedish snus.

But what if I didn't "get it" based what was on the Internet at the time, there was no Swedish snus dealer local, and I had stayed with the Camel?

That's happening today; the thought it could have happened to me scares me to death, and is why I'm not only going to publicize the US over-the-counter Swedish Snus locations, but is the whole reason I'm doing the new website: to try and stop Susan Ivey's plan of redefining the taste of snus for Americans.

I rotate my Swedish Snuses now...with the variety, how can you not? And while I am doing a portion of Onyx now, I confess SM is making some moves I'm not thrilled with either.

But I thank them every day because that can of General Portion was only 5 minutes away.... Otherwise, I'd be typing this with a pouch of Camel Frost in my mouth....and enjoying it.

Mr. UNZ - I've called the Specs store in Houston and they said that they were no longer selling snus. :(

I need to get up to that part of town and swing in to see if they really aren't selling any, or if the person that I spoke to just wasn't aware of it. I specifically asked to speak to someone in their tobacco section. The guy sounded like he did know what it was, but it said they were no longer carrying it.

Mr. UnloadingZone said...

Hmmm. Sorry about that but the list is the most recent published.

I guess they are behind in updating it.

Did you just ask for "snus"? Maybe the guy thought you meant Camel or some other American brand.

I'd try calling back and ask if they carry General Brand or Catch Swedish Snus. If they say no, then I hope that list gets updated quickly.

Sincerely,

UNZ

My brother-in-law lives in Houston and purchased some of the Catch Dry minis from Specs just the other day. I scolded him for buying mini's, but wanted to let you know they were still selling it.

Hi Morph111 and welcome!

Yes, I popped into my local Up in Smoke to get a can of the Catch Eucalyptus they used to carry and in Catch, that's all they had.

My contacts at SM tell me they are holding off bringing any other brands over for over-the-counter right now to build up name recognition for General and Catch.

Hey, better Catch Mint than Camel Frost! At least he's using Swedish Snus.

Sincerely,

Mr. UNZ
