Why Don't They Sell Wireless Phones Like These in the USA?

I was and am still very impressed with the att 8925 Tilt. It's the most powerful cellphone on the market today and, considering what it does, very reasonably priced at $299 with a 2 year contract.

That being said, I did some snooping around on some import sites and eBay and I am still amazed at the incredibly powerful, yet inexpensive phones offered overseas but not here in America. Below is an example of these types of phones. The first is made by Sony/Ericsson for sale in Korea and is called the EZIO WE990.

I found the EZIO on eBay at Tec-Plus Store for $269 UNLOCKED. Other eBay sellers had it for around the same price. That means if att or T-Mobile carried it and added their usual subsidy discounts for signing a 2 year contract, This phone would probably be around $99 to $129!

The list of features is staggering. It doesn't have WIFI but stack this up against ANY other $99 wireless phone the US wireless carriers are selling and it blows them away....especially if you are into the multi-media features: built-in FM tuner, MP-3, MP-4, MPEG-4, 3.2 Mega Pixel camera, camcorder......check out these features:

Why aren't US Wireless Carriers bringing in phones like these? The only major requirement the FCC has is that they work with 911 to pinpoint your location. How much can that cost to add?

The att Tilt is still the best phone on the market for the money (for now) but for people that don't need all of the Tilt's functionality or are heavily into music and movies, these two phones blow away anything sold in the US for less than $200. Cheaper phones that do more = more subscribers! Bring them on!!!!!!

Europe is much more dependent on a wireless system than the US is so they and Asia drive the market.
