UPDATE TO: Bi-lingual Outrage (and Joke) of the Day

In my earlier post, Bi-Lingual Outrage (and Joke) of the Day, I ended with a dire, but frankly unanticipated conclusion: that if we saw bi-lingual signage appearing at Fry's, Best Buy and CompUSA, we were REALLY heading down the slippery slope.

I went to Best Buy in South Dallas today, the one in the new but filthy shopping center the Walmart I described in that post is in. Imagine my horror when I started scanning signs looking for where a particular item was.....and suddenly realized the signs were bi-lingual!!!!! Wheeling around, I scanned more signs and sure enough, EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS BI-LINGUAL! I was stunned and repulsed at the same time. As much as I (used to) like Best Buy, I will NEVER shop there again. I left the store without making a purchase. Tonight I'm going to Fry's and CompUSA. If THEY have gone bi-lingual, where am I going to shop for my non-web-purchased electronics???????????

God help America, we're further down the slippery slope to 3rd world- ism than even I had thought. Is it possible we will be a second-class power in MY lifetime, not just in 2060? Am I going to have to not only live through the degradation of America, but actually LIVE in a second-class America? Before, I feared for our children. Now I fear for us. If we all don't stand up now and make VERY clear to the globalists and America-haters in Washington that strong measures have to be taken, then we will be taken over. And sooner than we thought.

If you haven't read my post How to Stop Illegal Immigration for Dummies, read it now. If you have read it, read it again. We're running out of time.

POSTSCRIPT: I never made it to CompUSA but I visited Fry's Electronics last night and the signage was all still in English only. As to CompUSA, I don't have great hopes: they are owned by a Mexican company, they replaced their entire Executive Management Team a few months ago with one imported from Mexico, and they are looking for a way (after closing half of their stores) to make themselves relevant. We'll see how long it takes.

For me a mark of being a great nation is how many people feel at home in it. You're only worried about bi-lingual signage. In Belgium it's Quadri-lingual (English, French, Dutch, German) and loved Brussels for it. The movie theaters even show movies in 4 different languages at the same time (in different theaters of course). That's what makes a country international. Not like the US where most of them only understand English.

Bi-lingual signage is only a symptom of what I'm really worried about. America is losing it's identity. We are a nation of immigrants and for years we've blended together into a unique American culture. It's different with Hispanics. They (the majority, especially the poor which Mexico is exporting to us and President Bush is accepting (I don't know why) don't want to become Americans, they want to bring Mexico to America. We make accomodations for Hispanics that we never made for any other immigrant group.....bilingual signs, bilingual phone options, bilingual skills requirements for some (and growing) jobs now. We are in danger of losing America. And the fact that 12 million are here illegally doesn't help either. We can only absorb so many new immigrants at one time. Multilingual signs by themselves are fine, expecially in tourist areas. But in this case, they're a symptom of a much greater problem. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
