God, Thank You for Jesus Christ!

Life is a series of ups and downs; of highs and lows; of wealth and poverty; of joy and sorrow. As I mentioned in my profile, I've seen a lot of highs but I've been laid low too. This part of my material life is one of those low points.

I know the pendulum will swing the other way soon enough and all will be fine: it always does. But sometimes it gets tiring...bone-aching tiring. Sometimes you just want to quit. But this time, I have a friend who gives me strength. Who carries me when I'm too tired to walk. Who gives me comfort that no human or dog can give (dogs are great comforters). I'm talking about my friend, my Lord, my Savior, Jesus Christ.

I didn't have him with me years ago during another low period. I thank God I have Him now. OK, it took 22 years and the fall of the Soviet Union to bring me to Jesus, but God's time is not our time and his ways are not our ways. If they were, I would have won the lottery a long time ago. The important thing is that I've been blessed enough to discover the eternal salvation that Jesus offers and, just as important, his strength and friendship when I need it most.

I love God, but I admit he intimidates me a little bit. Read the Old Testament and you'll see why. I've always prayed to God, but I kind of felt like I was imposing. God was to be worshiped as the Creator of everything. Telling him my petty problems seemed......petty.

But with Jesus, I can pray to God through his Son. Jesus lived as a human and understands the stresses and frailties of the human condition. I like talking to Jesus, and through him, God. I like, before going into a stressful situation, asking the Holy Spirit who dwells within me to guard my tongue and let me be the best I can be.

The Apostle Paul talked about being both rich and poor and learning to be happy in both sets of circumstances. The New Testament talks to me where, in places, the Old Testament just scared me. Thank you, God, for opening my eyes to Jesus and your Word. Thank you for sacrificing your only begotten Son so that those who believe would find eternal life. And Jesus...thank you for being my friend.

do you think God is sick of all the hispanics getting into heaven and sees heaven as the Earth's dumping ground for illegal aliens? think about the compassion and aid that God brought you before you start being so judgemental and law enforcing on issues that when you really see the big picture dont really matter!!!

Of course law enforcement matters. The Old Testament is primarily a book of laws and God was slow to smite those who disobeyed His laws.

Without laws, we have anarchy. Look to the Sudan and other East African nations as an example. Without laws, we have no civilization, no spiritual growth as a species. Jesus says the only way to the Father is through the Son. Without laws, no one would be able to go to Heaven, practice their religion in peace (i.e. Sunni's and Shiite's killing themselves when only a few years ago they lived as neighbors.) Laws and the ability to comprehend them are one of the things that separate us from animals. Those that follow the law and those that break the law define what "right" and "wrong" are. They matter very much in the big picture.....assuming you are an illegal alien (my apologies if you're not), you don't pay taxes. Jesus said render under Caesar what is Caesars and to God what is God's.

Your clear inability to understand "Law" explains why the top story in the newspaper today was how Mexico City was becoming the new Bogota.....Drug Cartel's are moving in to the formerly neutral city. Raids today uncovered houses full of military-grade weaponry in the most exclusive areas of Mexico City. Earth is not a dumping ground for Heaven and the United States should not be a dumping ground for Mexico.
